Choreographer of THE GREAT GATSBY ballet received two prestigious awards21.05.2014
The working process on the ballet project THE GREAT GATSBY is in full swing concurrently in three countries - Ukraine, Russia and the United States. As repeatedly stated by the producers, the best professionals are involved in creation of the ballet. Their names speak for themselves. Music is composed by Konstantin Meladze. Denis Matvienko, Premier of Mariinsky Theatre, is Art Director and performer of the leading role in the ballet. The Director of upcoming ballet is one of the most sought out choreographers of the day in accordance with The New York Times - Dwight Rhoden. American choreographer has recently received two prestigious awards.
On May 17th Dwight Rhoden was awarded with the title of Honorary Doctor of the Boston Conservatory - a big arts school in the United States. Also, a little earlier, his name took it’s pride of place in the Hall of Fame Award of The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA).
Dwight Rhoden: "I am very pleased that my name was included in the Hall of Fame of The New York Foundation for the Arts. This is appreciation of my work. This award at different times was received by many world-famous artists: painters, writers, sculptors, and masters of visual arts as well, including dancers and choreographers. For example, in 2011, this award was received by the famous dancer and choreographer, editor-in-chief of Dance Magazine - Wendy Perron.
NYFA - is award presented for excellence, originality, and something what can be characterized by word “uniqueness”. Among the nominees are those who contributed to the development of modern art. This year the award was given to the author of numerous bestsellers - Terry McMillan , as well as to famous artist Deborah Kass.
